Re: Police launch campaign to improve Pattaya's sex-tainted image

I agree the golf tourism business is HUGE. Now some of the gofers enjoya little desert after golf, but they come for the golf. Compared to HH the prices are more reasonable. Swarmy is an easy 60-80 mins away which helps.

Re: Dual-pricing in Thailand: Is it time to do away with the 'farang tax'?

I was ina market in China witha Chinese friend. I saw something I liked, did not speak but walked away and my Chinese friend bought it for me. She joined me and handed the bag to me. At this point the stall holder came from his stall and shouted abuse at her for cheating him .

You could make roast pork jokes but it is really so sad that those ani,als suffered so much. AND a faulty electrical short circuit, imagine that here in Thai, with the high standards of the electricians.

Now I understand--my Thai lady friend has explained it to me--it is NOT that farang are asked to pay more--they pay the correct price, but Thai people are given a discount.

an important part of raising and educating children is teaching them to think of cause and effect, that acts have consequences. I don't think that this happens in Thai.

Re: Police launch campaign to improve Pattaya's sex-tainted image

Guess the SEX trade capital of THAI is now going to be just another beach resort. Do NOT try to drive north out of Pattaya the roads will be congested with all the girls going back to work on the farm in Issan.

i think it is foolish to waste time and energy on this matter---- it all part of expat life, same in EVERY country in Asia and even in southern Europe.

Re: Thailand's high-speed train project underway

handdrummer--- I dont think that China will take over SE Asia using troops but by a process of neo-colonialism where you take over the economy. ASEAN andAEC are attemts to halt this but Thai by its non-coperation is shooting itself in the foot--but that is what Thai does best

Re: Thai Navy to buy three Chinese submarines

The gulf bering too shallow for them to submerge is probably a blessing. Having the Thai navy take them down below sea level would be a big mistake

I think that we all know at least part of the answer--it does not need new regs but the enforcing of regs in place.

Re: Thailand wins for worst traffic in world

when i worked in BKK a guy who lived on the south shore worked from 6am-2.30pm as driving to work at 7 or home at 5 would take him at least an hour longer each way, and that was on a good day. of course, taking a decade for each new subway or skytrain extension does not help.
