Re: Knee Problems

My wife recently had knee surgery at Bumrungrad and although expensive we cannot recommend them more highly. They did an excellent job and were very professional in all aspects. Given the importance of insuring such injuries are treated correctly it is well worth the money. From memory the first con...

Re: Driving license

I got my 1 year "temporary" car license from Pranburi last Thursday, no problem at all. I had the following documents (including copies): IDL; DL from my home country; passport; copy of visa page;medical certificate; residency certificate. I had to do color blindness test, spacial/distance...

Re: Cheaper rental options

Best option is to get here and secure some cheap short term accommodation (there is plenty to choose from) so as to give yourself plenty of time to have a good look around. I agree you will get a better deal if you look around and ask rather than going though an agent.

Best of luck...

Re: Thai Visa Fast

I can't see how you can get the "retirement" OA visa here in Thailand. A visa, by its very nature, is applied for and granted by Thai Embassies and consulates abroad and is simply an invitation to enter the country. OA visas should be applied for at the Embassy in your home country. Howev...

Re: Purchasing a used car

Update. All has gone well and we managed to go to DLT and complete all formalities before payment was made. Thanks for the information provided it was very helpful.

By the way the dealer could not have been more helpful and I would be happy to recommend his services.

Regards

Re: Purchasing a used car

I am fairly new to the forum and not sure if it is ok to mention the dealers name, however I have done some research and they seem to check out ok. I agree there needs to be some level of trust but at the same time I do not want to get ripped off. He has offered that I can withhold some of the price...

Purchasing a used car

I am in the process of purchasing a used car through a broker in Bangkok and he is insisting that I pay the full amount and then the blue book will be transferred into my name the next day. I am uncomfortable paying the full amount before the blue book is transferred into my name. Is this normal pra...

Re: Wine

I like my wine, whiskey, and beer neat (except for the hangover cure of a half/half beer and tomato juice called a red beer or bloody beer). You could always try the hangover breakfast version we used in Ireland after a hard Saturday night out..... 1 dozen fresh oysters accompanied by a pi...

Re: Thai Bank Debit Cards for overseas online purchases.

Can you use the card for local debit purchases? I recently acquired a visa debit card from Bangkok bank which would not work for any visa debit purchases and worked only as an ATM card. What I didn't realize was that you had to register the card as a debit card before you could use it or purchases. ...

2014 Toyota Fortuner

I am looking to purchase a new Toyota Fortuner and I have heard that the new 2014 is due to be released shortly. Does anyone know when this is likely to be? and also do the dealers here do special pricing on old "run out models"?

Thanks Bomber

Re: Re Entry Permit

Yes I do have a multiple entry OA visa and thank you to everyone for the advice which really clarifies the situation. To a newcomer it all seems very confusing of what's required and I certainly don't want to invalidate my visa after the hassle of getting it in the first place!! I am a keen golfer a...
