Re: Vana Nava Hua Hin City 2017

Vana Nava Hua Hin City 3 - 1 Chiva Som This was a friendly match, arranged to showcase/test Hua Hin's new signings, and to get the side fit for the re-start of the season on Sunday. One of Thai football's anomalies this season is the number of teams in T4. Re-organisation took place last season, wh...

Re: Hua Hin Party Houses

I think it's really despicable and sad that people who have enough money to buy 3-4 8 Bedroom homes with pools don't use their money to do something good and beneficial for society, but this is how the world is these days, no common sense, no courtesy and people don't even give a damn about their o...

Re: Thai Navy to buy three Chinese submarines

The military government has defended its decision to buy a 13.5-billion-baht Chinese submarine, saying it acted transparently and that the vessel is not only cheaper than other foreign competitors but comes with free missiles. I wasn't expecting that, but reading the propaganda, these missiles are ...

Can now only do at Bangkok Bank with a Thai guarantor, who must be someone with a decent job and be there with you.
Yes. sorry, I missed the guarantor bit for my friend. He used his wife's family farm in Isaan, although the family did not have to travel from Kalasin to be there.

Re: Vana Nava Hua Hin City 2017

Just bumping today's friendly, which kicks off in just under 4 hours time. Last season's friendly was a fun packed goal fest, with Hua Hin coming out on top. This should be an interesting match, where Hua Hin will be show-casing a few new players, brought in during the half term break to strengthen ...

A friend opened an account last month (on a 30 day exemption), and the only bank that would accept him was Bangkok Bank.

Re: Hua Hin Party Houses

Yes, as I said, very popular with Thais. We've had several groups of in outlaws visit from Bangkok and Isaan, who make use of them. They work out as cheap accommodation (most are 3-500 Baht/night/person), and you can let your hair down without too much worry. I've never been to one of these houses w...

Re: Hua Hin Party Houses

The guy I'm talking about, has actually built many (not all) of his properties in their own development, so I guess it's a typical Thai battle over who can play their music loudest (just sit in any Binthablock bar to understand), and there's nobody to worry them. He's well connected, so I doubt ther...

Re: Subhamitra Hotel HH

It must be 14 years since I stayed there. We were thrown out because my daughter and 4 year old granddaughter were visiting us in our room on a rainy day. I guess they had a very strict guest policy back then (or they wanted to scam a bit of cash out of a stupid Farang). I'm sure they've modernised ...

Re: Hua Hin Party Houses

Yes, we have a thread here http://www.huahinforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=33328 One of my neighbours (previously property development) is into it in a big way. He's just built an 8 bedroomed mansion for exactly this. He expects 20,000+Baht/night on that one. He has a few houses scattered around. Ba...

Can plastic roads help save the planet?

Engineer Toby McCartney explains how his Scottish start-up MacRebur is persuading councils to use local waste plastic to build roads. Two English councils have already started building roads this way. http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-39693091 Thoughts......... if they have enough waste to have islan...

Re: Hua Hin Station Memories of Love

Yes, it's a very big deal. There are events all day - playing on the Royal connections. In the evening, the station is transformed into a huge open air ballroom. It's one of those events where you buy a ticket, and they bring course after course of food to you.

It's still there. I believe (not sure) that they've done a renovation in recent years. They don't appear on the usual booking sites, but do have their own website http://www.subhamitrahotel.com/th/index.html

Standing at a decidedly no...
