Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

We normally get a day or two like this in March or April, so today's rain is well overdue. There's obviously been a steady downpour because I've just ventured outside for the first time, and the wasteland opposite is under water, and the BIG termites are rising fast. My son's class outside this even...

Re: Khao Tao Lake

Avoid its tail  Of course, there must be a chance - hook a small fish, small fish gives out distress signals and lizard thinks lunchtime. It used to happen all of the time when deep sea fishing. Fish gives out distress signals, shark thinks lunchtime. I've never known anybody hook a Monitor t...

Re: Khao Tao Lake

Having watched all of the building debris disposed of in the lake, I'd guess far too many snags for a fish to get caught on. However, don't forget, there is a virtual bridge that goes around 70% of the lake. That is where many locals fish for smaller fish. Also a refuge for the Monitor Lizards.

Re: Khao Tao Lake

Yes, but that path around the lake is used a lot by walkers/runners at those times. Fishermen aren't the tidiest of people, and I'd imagine leave a lot of trip hazards.

Re: Khao Tao Lake

Yes, it has loads of fish - I think stocked as a Royal initiative each year to feed the local people (I'm not sure about that, but they certainly put a lot of fish in each year). The snakeheads are the prized beasts, but you need live bait for those. Some very large fish, as well as all of the usual...

Re: The 90 Day Report Thread

A friend has just e-mailed me - her 90 day online report has just been rejected, so definitely still a 50/50 chance of acceptance.

No, the last time I was outside of Thailand was 2019.

Don't panic guys, the nice girl at Bluport more or less told me the computer was suffering a glitch. About a 50% chance of being accepted.

VincentD wrote: Mon May 20, 2024 8:58 pm Since you're receiving it in the mail, this would indicate a dedicated automated camera triggered by either radar or laser. The handheld laser or radar teams would typically have a traffic stop further up the road.
The one time I was caught, it was a mobile camera, and I received it in the post.

Re: Speed Cameras

berlinmichael, I travel that road daily, and apart from the cameras near Vana Nava, I can't spot any cameras. I'd love to know where they are. What I will say, is when I first came to Thailand, I didn't have a clue what the speed limit was and drove at UK speeds on motorways. Yes, I was caught by a ...
