Re: The Baguette

This is kind of funny. That’s Love Bread on the right. On the left is a vacant townhouse with a big banner with notice of Baguette's new location on the highway. It’s been there ever since the split.

Re: The Baguette

IMHO the bread varieties at both Baguette and Love Bread don't taste that much different from each other. They look different and have different shapes and colors, but the flavor is pretty much the same; rather bland. It's as if they were made in a hurry without giving the dough time to "rest" and t...

Re: The Baguette

I agree about their baguettes being fairly ordinary so like you, I have begun baking my own - this was one of my first attempts 0204667C-8B9D-4796-B617-62E650D47F06.jpeg Care to share your recipe/method? My baguettes are heavier and denser than I'd like. My ordinary sourdough loaves are pretty good...

Re: The Baguette

To add to the confusion: When Baguette Cha Am moved from Narathip to the highway, the former partner opened a nearly identical shop called Aun's Baguette at the old location. There was a dispute over the name, so Aun's Baguette became Love Bread. Not that it matters, but neither of us much like the ...

Re: Ceiling Fans

I wrote to Mr Ken about the three fan failures. Turns out the motors are warrantied for ten years. All I have to do is send the motors to Bangkok and they'll determine if that's the fault. (I happen to have the original receipt.) The remote control is only warrantied for two years, so, if that's the...

Ceiling Fans

When I had my house built in 2007 I installed four Sunlight ceiling fans. Within five years three of the four had failed. (One, miraculously, still spins on.) In 2012 I replaced the three failed units with fans from Mr, Ken. All three of those have now failed. Is there a brand of ceiling fan availab...

Re: The Beer Thread

Formaldehyde for one, probably Formaline also. I've heard that rumor, but I've never seen any real evidence. I have a friend who runs an environmental testing lab in Bangkok. He decided to test Thai beers using the equipment in his lab. He didn't detect any formaldehyde or any other chemicals other...

Re: The Beer Thread

Started brewing my own as I'm not prepared to pay 200 baht a bottle for a decent drop and am sick to the teeth of chemical laced Leo, Singh and Chang. Good for you. Keep us posted. Some photos of the process as well as some sourcing hints would be nice. I'm too clumsy to brew myself but I really ad...

Re: The Beer Thread

I can understand why beer seems boring if you only drink Heineken.

I like to mix it up. Last night I had this beer, brewed in Cambodia by Thai brewers.

Re:

I suppose someone in Korat must know. If not the cable company, then someone in a shop selling STBs should know. The problem may be finding that person. The chronic problem in Thailand: Finding the guy who really knows…. A few years back I lost the ability to ftp to my web host which is located in ...

Re: Digital Cable TV Woes

I'm still wondering why neither of my STBs will find any of the digital cable channels broadcast by Korat Cable TV. I wonder what frequencies they're using….

Re: Digital Cable TV Woes

If they're using frequencies in the broadcast dtv range (474 - 858 MHz) then you can probably use a standard DTV set top box. I just tried this with our cable and I got some digital channels through a standard digital broadcast STB. I tried it with a couple standard digital TV boxes and got no chan...
