Re: The i-things - Apple devices and software thread

IMHO Apple made two big mistakes. Although it’s been pubic knowledge that Apple and Google have been using WiFi access points for geolocation, what they didn’t make clear was that you could opt out nor did they make public that this information was so easy to access. It’s not clear to me why this po...

Full article here: Why Your Wi-Fi Router Doubles as an Apple AirTag “You may not have Apple products, but if you have an access point and someone near you owns an Apple device, your BSSID will be in [Apple’s] database,” he said. “What’s important to note here is that every access point is being trac...

That's the technique, isn't it. Even the Shell station at Thew Talay calls itself Hua Hin One.

Re: Condo glut in Cha-am likely to persist

The single biggest project is The Energy - I don’t know how many units remain unsold but that too, is like a ghost town most of the time. I cycle and walk by there fairly often and rarely see anyone. I can't imagine anyone would take a look at it and actually want to live or stay there. It has that...

I imagine the banks and mobile providers must be ripping their hair out now as the inquiries and complaints come rolling in.

Big Boy wrote: Mon May 27, 2024 2:42 pm Thinking about it, I'm sure we've had a few forum members registering in their wife's name because it was easier.
It's my recollection that we got a family plan under my wife's name and that all the SIMs are under her name. But, according to the DTAC app, that was ten years ago.

Big Boy wrote: Mon May 27, 2024 2:40 pm Does anybody know how to check what your SIM is registered as please?
The DTAC app shows the name of the person who registered the SIM. Not sure about other carriers.

Mobile SIM Registration Name Must Match Mobile Banking Name

This was in the Bangkok Post on May 21st , but I just ignored it until I watched the news this morning: Approved by the NBTC previously, the [new] policy requires that the name used in registering a mobile phone SIM card is identical to the name of the owner of the bank account connected to the inte...

This is kind of funny. This thread appears on the New Posts page so I mistakenly assumed it was current.

Re: Hotels Cha Am

I haven't had to stay in a hotel in Cha Am for some time, but I'm there every month. If I were to choose, I'd probably pick the Raya Resort. I have coffee there every morning when I'm in town. The grounds are lovely. It's right on the beach. Agoda has it for 1800 when I just looked. Another one that...

Re: Buying online from Lazada

I know this doesn't help anyone, but we've had none of the problems with failed delivery or counterfeit items described here. Almost all of the drivers call when they're about to deliver and immediately hang up. If someone is home, they leave it at the house. If not, it's left at the guard shack. Ne...

Re: Thailand's coral at immediate risk from rising sea temperature, expert warns

The surface temperature was 32º in May of 2019 when the photo above was taken. As you can see, that resulted in severe bleaching of some coral. By September of the same year the surface temperature was down to 30º which was low enough for much of the coral to recover. I haven't been out this year (t...
