Re: Pranburi Water

Which probably means three days without water for most as the job will probably overrun. No doubt the water trucks will be busy next week as those with small tanks get caught out.

Re: Reduce photos size for posting

When I need to reduce photos to send I usually just go to the photo in file manager, right click on the photo and click on send to, click on mail recipient and it offers a size to reduce to. When selected it will create a message with the photo as an attachment. Just drag this back to another folder...

Re: Name calling in Thailand

It is not so much the name but the way it is used. I would say that in more than 99% of occasions when I am referred to as a farang it is not malicious and when it is the word itself is not malicious but rather the comments linked to it. "Sticks and stones...." and all that comes to mind. If you can...

Re: Flight to Thailand bargains

It looks like I was fed the wrong information. I will check back to confirm this as obviously the majority are less than pleased with Turkish Airlines apart from the price. My apologies if I have caused any confusion.

Re: hello and intro

When you come over, as your wife is Thai, if you have the time it is better to travel around the areas you are thinking about and see what places are advertised for sale. You might find your dream house is for sale privately and not advertised on any of the property agents sites. You should be able ...

Re: Flight to Thailand bargains

I know someone who recently flew with Turkish Airlines in business class and was impressed both with the planes and the lounge in Turkey. No idea about cattle class though which most of us have to suffer.

Re: Macaques being sterilised at Hua Hin tourist spot

People used to feed the monkeys on the back road around Hua Hin Golf Course over the hill which goes up to the view point or is used a way of avoiding the railway road past the station for those coming in from Pala U road wanting to go to MV or Bluport. Lots of notices there now telling you not to f...

Re: Hua Hin dual-track rail routes go to cabinet

It is interesting to follow the process both for the over and under, in my case, sixty year olds. Do many of those who read and post actually use the railways or would they be likely to if services were quicker/more efficient. The last time I used it was to go on a visa run to Penang many years ago....

Re: Termite Swarming Season

I have fitted the LED lamps in the fittings either side of the entrance gate so next time they swarm I will turn off the other lights and see if this helps distract them.

Re: Termite Swarming Season

Does fitting LED lights reduce the amount of flying ants or termites. I read that it severely reduces biting insects but not mosquitoes (they use scent to find their dinner) and was wondering if this also applies in this case.

Re: Google Earth Hua Hin updated

It was blanked out on google maps until I zoomed in on my iphone and then became clear but did appear to be from a slightly different aspect and the red/orange colouration to the right of the blanked out bit was not there. Was there possibly a dire there recently which the satellite managed to catch?

Re: New, incoming, customs searches

Came in yesterday with the wife. I had a bicycle, two large suitcases etc and was not stopped. The wife was just behind me with one suitcase and small bag. I was not stopped and she was. I helped her put her bag through and was not asked to put mine through. It seems to be a cursory random thing and...

Re: Airport Transit Question__Different airlines.

I am pretty sure you can stay airside. If you cannot get a boarding pass for the onward flight when you check in then you should be able to either get one at the transfer desk in Schipol or do it online.

Re: Toss the kettle, you should microwave your tea!

Tea making is an art, not a science. Just as some people prefer a Picasso and others a Monet, good tea is very much a personal taste. The scientist's method may produce a decent cuppa but is unlikely to be adopted as most dedicated tea drinkers are set in their ways.

Re: Nissan Dealership Hua Hin - A Word of Caution

I bought a Vios there four years ago and had some very shoddy work done where pipes where parts were not replaced that should have been. Bought a Hilux from Cha Am twenty two years ago and never had a problem. Now I take the Vios there rather than HH. Obviously peoples experiences will differ but bo...
